 | The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards (September 6, 2012) The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on Thursday, September 6, 2012 and will broadcast live from the Staples Center arena in Downtown Los Angeles. Following Comedian/Actor, Kevin Hart's hilarious appearance at the 2011 VMAs, he will be the host this year. This "Think Like A Man" actor, also appears occasionally as a "round table" guest on the late night E! talk show Chelsea Lately. And on June 26, 2011, he hosted the 2011 BET Awards. The VMAs honors the best music videos from the previous year. Nominations for the awards were announced on July 31, 2012. Rihanna and Drake received five nominations and Katy Perry received four.
