 | On 6 November 2011, for the first time, BIGBANG made history in the music entertainment industry in MTV EMA 2011 when they snatched the new Best Worldwide Act Award away from pop music giants such as Britney Spears (North America), Restart (Latin America), Abdelfattah Grini (Africa/India/Middle East) and Lena (Europe). This year's MTV EMAs garnered an unprecedented total of 158 million votes, with 58 million (almost 1/3 of the total votes) going to BIGBANG. The popular Korean singing group also dominated the EMAs' Twitter Tracker, which tracked fans who were tweeting about their favorite idols throughout the awards event.
